Pest & Home Inspections
Some people have a false sense of security that if their neighbors are unaffected by a pest like mice, their house is safe. That’s not the case. Another popular misconception is that termites don’t exist in Colorado. In fact, subterranean termites are a growing problem.
What should Colorado residents watch out for?
- Bees will make nest in your walls. The honey causes permanent damage.
- Wood destroying insects (like subterranean termites, carpenter ants and bees, and powder post beetles) that weaken studs and joists
- Brown rot caused by decay fungi. This damage is often inconspicuous until its final stages.
- Downey woodpeckers make holes and nest in you walls.Woodpeckers are protected after May 15, so early action is required.
- Other birds and bats will often cause damage when building their nests.
- Mice and rats will chew wires because of the salt in the insulation and sometimes wood.
- Squirrels can be very destructive, chewing large holes in wood. They also chew on wiring. Their chewing and scratching is louder than a mice would make.
