research information — cockroaches
Many species of cockroaches become problems in Colorado. While this insect is not native to our state, many homes, businesses, restaurants and others can become infested very quickly when they are accidentally introduced through food products, poor sanitation practices, and/or introduction in many other ways. The ability of this insect to hide in very small cracks and live and breed in such varying environments can make the cockroach one of the most difficult insects to manage. The gestation period of most cockroaches is 10-14 days, with the ability of laying 50-200 eggs at each cycle per female. You can imagine the numbers if left on their own for too long!
